2018 saw the construction of the gigantic marine litter octopus. Named OctAsh after local kid Ashton Malone who won our online competition, the giant 10m tall glow in the dark octopus was built by local volunteers, fishermen and artists. No doubt the star attraction at SeaFoodRocks was OctoAsh which was made entirely from retired and recycled fishing gear and plastics. This was certainly a spectacle to behold.
Guess what!!! OctoAsh will be heading to Stradbally this year to the country’s largest Music and Arts Festival, Electric Picnic. Fantastic news. The national publicity this project received has been phenomenal and it looks like the message will be pushed out once more this August. Let’s keep the awareness alive and say #NO2PLASTIC.
